Dr Max Lim graduated with honours and Masters of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with The University of Melbourne. He has been passionate about sporting injuries and completed his Masters of Sports Physiotherapy in 2010. He has been involved with many sports clubs and teams, including Australian Footy, table tennis, athletics and swimming, and he has vast experience travelling such as the Beijing Paralympics in 2008. Additionally, Dr Max Lim has been awarded the title of “clinical exercise specialist” with the American College of Sports Medicine and is a certified aquatic therapist. Besides treating sports related injuries, he enjoys sports at a higher level and has participated in multiple triathlons and swimming. He also represented Singapore in the Asian Games and World Youth Olympics in table tennis in his younger days.
Dr Max Lim is passionate about research and evidence-based practice. In 2012, he completed and published his thesis on “Neck muscle activation patterns in table tennis players with and without neck pain” when he completed his Doctor of Clinical Physiotherapy at The University of Melbourne.
Most recently in 2013, Dr Max Lim has been awarded the title of a Specialist Physiotherapist by the Australian College of Physiotherapists and is now a fellow of the college. Fellowships of the Australian College of Physiotherapists are national awards that are granted to members of the Australian Physiotherapy Association in recognition of high standards of clinical skill and scholarship. They are the leaders of the profession and are entitled to call themselves Specialist Physiotherapist and use the post nominal FACP.
Dr Max Lim began his private practice Maxvale Physiotherapy in 2009, specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in Melbourne. Maxvale Physiotherapy grew rapidly in a short period of time with eight different branches across Melbourne. Dr Max Lim has been continuously involved in business management and staff training.
Dr Max Lim has great passion in clinical teaching and mentoring. He is currently involved in mentoring La Trobe University physiotherapy students doing their undergraduate and Masters degree. He also coached overseas trained musculoskeletal physiotherapists.
Dr Max Lim practices the highest level of clinical skills and is meticulous with his assessment. He is well known for his clinical expertise, great communication skills and caring nature. Dr Max Lim is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Teochew. Outside of clinical work, he enjoys a great workout with running, swimming and keeping fit.
