Dr Max Lim graduated with honours and Masters of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with The University of Melbourne. He has been passionate about sporting injuries and completed his Masters of Sports Physiotherapy in 2010.
He has been involved with many sports clubs and teams, including Australian Footy, table tennis, athletics and swimming clubs. Topping it off, he was appointed as a Medical delegate in the Beijing Paralympics in 2008. Additionally, Dr Max Lim has been awarded the title of “Clinical Exercise Specialist” with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and is also a certified Aquatic Therapist (ATRIC).
The passion of sports-injury management stems from his active participation in high level sports. Max has competed in multiple triathlons and swimming competitions. He also represented Singapore in the Asian Games and World Youth Olympics in table tennis in his younger years.
Academically, Max is interested in research and evidence-based practice. In 2012, he completed and published his thesis on “Neck muscle activation patterns in table tennis players with and without neck pain” when he completed his Doctor of Clinical Physiotherapy at The University of Melbourne.
Dr Max Lim has been awarded the title of a Specialist Physiotherapist by the Australian College of Physiotherapists in 2013. He is now a fellow of the college. Fellowships of the Australian College of Physiotherapists (FACP) are national awards that are granted to members of the Australian Physiotherapy Association in recognition of high standards of clinical skill and scholarship. They are the leaders of the profession and are entitled to call themselves Specialist Physiotherapist and use the post nominal FACP.
Dr Max Lim began his private practice Maxvale Physiotherapy in 2009, specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in Melbourne. Maxvale Physiotherapy grew rapidly in a short period of time with eight different branches across Melbourne. Dr Max Lim has been rigorously involved in physiotherapist training to ensure high standard of care. Max envisioned that patients that comes into the care of Maxvale Physiotherapy will be receiving quality care and be treated with integrity and professionalism.
Shaping the future of Physiotherapy is one of his passion. Max enjoys clinical teaching and mentoring. Currently, he has been teaching in La Trobe University for both of their undergraduate and Masters courses. Furthermore, he is actively involved in mentoring La Trobe, Monash and Melbourne University physiotherapy students. He also coached overseas trained musculoskeletal physiotherapists.
Dr Max Lim practices at the highest level of clinical skills and is meticulous with his assessment. He is well known for his clinical expertise, great communication skills and caring nature.
Dr Max Lim is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Teochew.
Outside of clinical work, he enjoys a great workout with running, swimming and keeping fit.
