Karyn believe in maximising one’s potential to live a happy and healthy life is extremely rewarding
Karyn is an APA Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. She has obtained Masters of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from La Trobe University and her Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy) from the University of Sydney.
Lifelong learning forms part of Karyn’s professional development therefore she seek to upgrade her clinical skills with external courses conducted by the Australian Physiotherapy Association and regular in-house professional specialist tutorials and masterclasses with Maxvale Physiotherapy. She is trained in myofascial dry needling, Mulligan technique, hydrotherapy and Clinical Pilates.
Karyn has gained a wealth of professional experience working clinically in acute hospital setting, outpatient neurological rehabilitation, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, orthopaedics, geriatric and vestibular rehabilitation.
Between 2005 – 2007, Karyn was involved as a team physiotherapist for a rugby club in Singapore. She was also appointed as a medical officer for the Singapore Team in the FESPIC games and the ASEAN games during that time.
On top of clinical work, Karyn loves innovation in work processes and in quality patient care and management. She had participated actively in Singapore’s innovative practice award between 2007-2009 and received multiple prestigious awards for her projects.
After relocating to the most liveable city in the world – Melbourne, Karyn has worked in both private practice and in aged care setting. She has gained a great range of experience in the management of musculoskeletal conditions. For instance, neck and spinal pain, headache, tennis elbow, hip and gluteal pathologies, OA knees, low back pain, knee meniscal and sports related injuries. She also has great interest in chronic pain management.
As a health care professional, Karyn believes that prevention is better than cure. Empowerment of self efficacy with pain and injury management is paramount. Maximising one’s potential to live a happy and healthy life is extremely rewarding.
She incorporate a holistic approach with pain education, active listening, “hands on” treatment, self management strategies, hydrotherapy and exercise therapy.
Karyn is also passionate in the clinical training and mentoring of physiotherapists.
Recreationally, Karyn enjoys the nature and outdoor activities like bushwalking, travelling and photography.
Karyn is fluent in English and Mandarin.
